31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 4- THE GRAVE- by Rasaq Malik

The grave is a complex path
a web beyond the eyes of men
with the fate of death:

They say life is the source
of everything that wanes like
candlelight in the wind.

Life is also a hill with footprints
of those that never return to say
a farewall message to their families.

The tomb is a dark hole
a silent house where faces bear the
scar of dust:

They say life is a riddle
and the grave is a metaphor
for an infinite absence.

Rasaq Malik is a budding poet who lives in Iseyin, Oyo State. He also writes in Yoruba. He is a poet who believes we can change the world with words.

  1. yeah...
    That's him.

I use to call him 5-alive.
He never losses taste and flavour

And has a way of saying what has not been said.

  5. Hmm! Deep! The grave holds the idleness of all being, there no work can be done! It also stand as a junction where eternal suffering and enjoyment meet to depart. Nice poem, poet!
