IF- a poem by Bada Yusuf Amoo- Poet of d Week 150914

If,
I am a teacher
I would tell you
Life is a mathematical
When you add one to another
You get double
The more you work
The more your wealth multiply
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
Too much word does not make poetry fine

If,
I am a preacher
I would tell you
Faith could push a mountain
That when you keep writhing in one place
With too much perseverance
You could be hero of the century
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
Faith only gives courage to take one more step

If,
I am a scientist
I would tell you
It is the soul that dies
The body is as normal dead
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
My poetry made up my soul

If,
I am a politician
I would tell you
Life is a game
The more you grow
The more you turn adept
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
No poet is a novice nor looser

If,
I am an athlete
I would tell you
Life is a race
The more you run
The better your chances of winning
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
Poetry requires little brawn

If,
I am a doctor
I would tell you
Paracetamol could cure fever
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
The breath of natural flower
Is full of easement – to Poets

If,
I am a coach
I would tell you
Life is a lesson
The more you fall
The more you learn
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
The affairs of this world
Are not for all have

If,
I am a speaker
I would tell you
Tell steps to success
And tell you
Rock could feel the pain of a needle
Coin illusion clauses
To widen your imaginations
Sharpen you emotion for desires
But, I am a Poet
What do you want me to tell you?
When I know
Life is not a perfect place
