31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 2- NORTH IS TREKKING DOWN OUR DOORS- by Ehiz Momodu

North is trekking down our doors
Attired in desires of black air and loud screams,
Mass graves and fragile virginals,
In colours of the state
And noisy fiascoes of corruption

North bangs at vehicles at all stations
Implementing laws from gods in cloud houses
Drag up wallets and fill the pockets with tears
From disappointments of the month’s produce
And click giggles with uniform “patriots”

This north is richer in experience
And having learnt from the “ninjas of DELTA”
And missiles from “far east”
It’s hungrier for younger skulls
Its guns and bombs chills in fridges
Of high lords and our “saviors”

We cast stones far from our doors
To far “cursed” north
And think this northern wind won’t break
And reach our shadows
But north is trekking down our doors
