31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 22- LASS, LEARN HOW TO SMILE- by James Ademuyiwa

Of Gaza's bones
And Syria's marrows,
I would tell you their tales
Like folktales with nursery rhymes,
To form parts of your
Childhood memories

Of the blood I sucked
Through my trigger's mouth
And of the flesh roasted
With my feral mind,
I would tell you stories of love,
Of hatred, and pity, and lives
Ruined while I obey deadly orders

See my smiles,
They are reciprocal of the
Smiles that were taken from
Those I took their futures,
Can you see them?

I will also tell you tales
Of the wars fought,
Of the ones won,
Of the ones lost,
Of the ones ahead,
And the one I would not
Return from

So, let me teach you how to smile
When I am gone
And never to return,
Just remember to smile
On the other side of your face
