#BB Slam II is one that is unique in its own way, first because it will be a pointer to how we can infuse poetry into other forms of art such as film making and secondly because it is the only known Slam in the city of Ibadan, Nigeria. It will be held alongside the 13th edition of Be Blessed (poetry and sundry talents event) Which is usually a quarterly event. The first edition was tagged #BB mini Slam and it was done with a winner takes all approach in April 2015. But this time the finalists have better things to strive for as TOP 5 stand a chance to be featured in a joint spoken word audio + Video. The winner will be given the right to make official sound track for a forthcoming movie from the stables of EGC, and a spoken word video will also be shot for him/her. The Theme for this edition is “HOPE” and entry closes on 27th March, 2016.

The judges were selected based on their knowledge of what we do at EGC media and Be Blessed as an event. All of them are written and performance poets who have graced the ‘Be Blessed’ stage before. They are:

Iquo DianaAbasi Eke writes prose, poetry and scripts for radio and screen. She often performs her poems with a touch of culture-rich Ibibio folklore.  Her first collection of poems, “Symphony of Becoming”, was shortlisted for the NLNG Nigeria prize for literature, and the ANA poetry prize; both in 2013.  She has graced poetry platforms such as Lagos International Poetry Festival, Ake Arts and Book Festival, Wole Soyinka @80, etc. Her writings have also appeared in Kalahari review, Saraba magazine, ANA Review and An avid student of human nature, Iquo’s writing explores socially cognizant themes, pain, love, womanhood and indeed the trials of the griots of this age.  The mother of two resides in Lagos where she has just completed work on a Novel, and is writing a collection of short fiction. Graciano Enwerem {Grrraciano} is a Spoken Word poet, writer and teacher. He is a graduate of English and Literary Studies from Imo State University. He's the winner of War Of Words 3, YouPoetry Slam, 9 times winner of Sea View's Poetry Challenge, Winner Of War Of Words Online slam 1 and cofounder of Figures Of Speech {F.O.S.}, the first online creative group on whatsapp. He's been proffered so many awards which include the SPIC Most Outstanding Achiever Of The Year, 2014, IFA's Atonisona Of Poetry Award, 2015 and was also voted the number 1 Poet at the EGC’s annual Top 50 Contemporary Poets who Rock Nigeria in 2015.

Ifeanyi Bernard “Prestige” is a spoken word artist and a teacher. He has participated in many poetry slams. He was the winner of the first #BB Slam and the first runner up in Eriata Oribhabor Spoken call Slam. He is the founder of “Express It”, an art group in Lagos. He is also the founder of “Teach The Truth Campaign”, a movement that promotes poetry in schools and communities and also inculcates moral values and civic consciousness in young minds. He is passionate about the spoken word art and believes the art would make a huge impact in the society.

Olumide Bisiriyu (aka. Enigmatic Olumide) is a Poet, Estate Surveyor, and cinematographer. He started scribbling his thoughts in the year 1994. He started performance poetry in the year 2003 and has since been known as one of Nigeria’s formidable performance Poets. Olumide has performed at various events in all the geo-political zones of Nigeria. He is the curator of Be Blessed (poetry and sundry talents event). He has been nominated for several awards, won some, and has been featured in several online and real-time anthologies. His recent poetry video, I Count, can be seen here
