31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 1- NO ONE SEES YOU LIKE YOU DO- by Bolanle Funmilayo Adedayo

Papa said you were a mistake
All he wanted was a male
Mama couldn’t understand
To her, your dream is a big joke.

You look in the mirror and wonder,
Why can’t they see?
Why can’t they look beyond?
Beyond the wretch and scarce.

Deep inside you know you’ll win
Someday you’re gonna shine
You see a winner in the mirror
You are focused on the ribbon

So when their words bring fear and doubt
And that image blurs in the mirror
Wipe your tears and look again
Cause, no one sees you like you do.

(When all you've got is you)

Bolanle Funmilayo Adedayo is a multi-talented Poet. She is a graduate of Estate Management from the Federal University of Technology, Akure. Funmilayo currently works in one of the leading Banks in Nigeria. Her creative prowess also comes to fore when she functions as a Make-Up Artiste, cake queen and a fine artist.

She fell in love with stories at a very young age and describes Poetry as the sweetest part with rhymes and puzzles. To her, poetry is more than a hobby; it's a way of self-expression. She learnt to weave her treasured secrets, anger, hurt, pain, joy, dreams and hopes in poems instead of diaries.

She can be described as a selfless Poet who doesn't just write for herself, but for others who need solace in their crazy world.

In her words, "I hope my lines bring solace and friendship in desperate times.
I am Me! I am Poetry!"
