31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 13- WE ARE THEIR VOICES- by Jerome Okeme

Of the starving poor
With no strength to step out
From those prisons of poverty
And no energy to cry out
“We are hungry”
We are their voices .

Of the aborted babies
Flused into the world of no return
Where their destinies were not not given a second thought
We are their voices.

Of those oppressed by opportunists
Suppressed by Sadists
And pressed by Persecutors
We are their voices.

Of those destitute in distress
Wining and dining on the table of impoverishment
With dirgeful lips
And outstretched arms
Not for food but for alms.
We are their VOICES.

Inspiration:      The Almighty God is my source of inspiration. Anything at all can propel me into writing, ranging from Nature to society, people, life, just to mention a few.

Journey into Poetry:   My journey into the World of Poetry Started in 2011 after reading a Poem with the title “SORRY” which I came across in a School Magazine (the writer unknown till now). Before then, Poetry or let me say Literature in general and I were arch-enemies .

What I Hope To Achieve With My Poems:      I want to impact lives positively with the beauty of Words. I want a situation where everyone, no matter the field of study, race, colour, age etc. to be able to connect and relate to Poetry itself .
