31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 15- DAWNING DEPTH- by Rachael Ige

Deep, deep as the earth, sorrow and mirth,
Deep as the search for life in my breath,
Deep as the sword goes, in its sheath,
Such is the love and sorrow buried in my heart.

Okafor, deep are the words that can’t be said,
Deep is the love that can’t be shown,
Deep is the fear and utmost dread,
That our love will die and not be known

Yet, deep is the warmth that spreads in my belly,
Deep when u smile and call me honey,
Deep from the heart and furnace of love,

Deep in us, love is enough.

Journey into poetry: I wrote my first poem in Jss3 as an assignment, however poetry burst forth in me like a spring when my dad died three years ago. Since then, the well has never run dry.

Other Info: Currently I am a final year student of Law at University of Ibadan , I have not been published yet but have written a lot of poems to my credit. I also hail from Oyo state, Okeogun in particular.
