31 DAYS OF POETRY- DAY 28- WHAT WE ARE- by Chibuihe-Light Obi

we are one percent of water
one percent of beer or barley or blood (any could come first)
one percent of plant: twisted fibre or grass blades or geranium pulled out of flower pots
the rest are ghosts that have walked with us all these years
and have refused to go home
because home has now become our bodies:
one round holed urn,
a ghost town in a war torn city

Chibuihe-Light Obi is a poet, memoirist and creative photography enthusiast. His writings aim to interrogate language, identity and memory; to probe silence and confront stereotype. He aims  to use poetry to push the boundaries of silence and in this way, spark useful conversations around certain issues, especially identity.

He discovered poetry the morning after the ill fated Dana air crash and has since then been experimenting with the genre. He draws his inspiration mostly from personal struggles and the need to define or discover one's self and express this self without fear of censorship or sanction.

He majored in Political Science with a minor in Special Education and works as a part time teacher and a part time maverick; alternating between classroom and photo room or wherever the spirit leads.
